The Owl House TV Series 2020 2023 Full Cast & Crew

king the owl house

She dubbed him "King", due to his interest in ruling subjects, and invented a story for him, which he took to heart. Not wanting to be taken as a fool or a helpless creature, he had successfully convinced himself that this was the truth and laughed or ridiculed those who denied his belief. King is shocked at the appearance of Luz, not because she is a human, but because her first instinct was to run up and cuddle him, which frightens him to no end.

Appearances

Following Eda's capture at the hands of Lilith Clawthorne and the Emperor's Coven, King was ready to join Luz on heading back to rescue her. They eventually team up with a reformed Lilith and work together to free Eda. King even convinces Eda that Lilith had changed for the better and that she was willingly giving up her place in the coven to help her. After Luz frees Eda and Lilith splits the curse between her and her sister, King once again shows his support for her friends. In the final show, King is a small, short canine/feline-like creature with dark gray fur and gray underbelly and tail tip.

Eda Clawthorne

When Lilith questions his identity as the king of demons, King attempts to prove his claims by taking Luz, Lilith, and Hooty to his "kingdom". The visit ends with the coming of a strange creature trying to hurt the quartet, but Eda shows up and allows the quartet to flee while she holds it off. Devastated by the truth, King flees into the jungle and Luz later finds him on the beach, having come to terms with the fact that he is nobody. Luz manages to convince him that there are still things he can really know about himself in the temple. Escaping the creature once more, the group arrives at the room where King once hatched. Putting his horn back on, King finally remembers the sounds he heard inside his egg and that the creature was actually his guardian.

Season Three

He and Eda agree to have Luz retrieve his crown from the Confromitorium, a place where they take misfits and incarcerate them. They find his crown, but it is a small fast food children's meal crown, most likely as it is the only thing that vaguely reminds him of his real crown. After having his first adventure with her, King suddenly begins warming up to Luz and even prefers sleeping with her like a dog. Eight years ago prior to season two, she was looking for a place to hide from the Emperor's coven. She found an uncharted island and headed to a tower to get out of the boiling rain. Later in the episode, it is revealed that King was hatched from an egg and the creature was trying to protect him from intruders.

One day she saw King playing around and remarked he was like acting like a king. That was the first time he spoke and from that day forward he thought he was a demon overlord. King treats Luz's friends the same way he once treated Luz herself when they first met. He seems to tolerate Willow and Gus, but had very negative feelings toward Amity when they first met as seen in "Covention". He personally sees them as beneath him, but has grown to be amicable with them.

Season One

In "Really Small Problems", he wanted to keep Luz to himself and keep Willow and Gus away, but by the end sees how important they are to her and accepts them as his friends. It is implied that once Amity started being friends with Luz, that King too started to tolerate her as well. Nevertheless, he sometimes displays a passive-aggressive nature around them, but it is usually in good fun. King also begins developing a better grasp on trying to be more sociable as it is later revealed that he suffers stage fright. This all implies that while he was the King of Demons, he never actually spent much time around others besides Eda and Hooty. It is also apparent that because of Luz, King starts to be more selfless, trying to help or and Eda with their problems before doing anything about his own.

King is also shown to be lazy, often lying around the house napping instead of working, and at times must be forced or blackmailed to do work, much to his annoyance. It is implied that him trying to regain his kingly status might be so that he can have an excuse to get out of doing menial labor. He relies on accessories meant for babies, such as high chairs and carriers. King keeps a lot of plush toys that he claims are his subjects and tries to take over the playground.

King has a domineering personality and always has a mighty opinion of himself. He seems to suffer from a form of Napoleon Complex as much of his behavior stems from him wanting to be seen as above others. He can be mildly irritable and occasionally gives a passive-aggressive demeanor.

Appearances

However, as the series progresses, he begins to soften and has started to lower his defenses more. In truth, he actually wants to be loved and appreciated by those around him, especially from Luz whom he has platonic feelings for. King Clawthorne is one of the deuteragonists of the Disney Channel animated series The Owl House. He is a young Titan who claims to be a former ruler, yet displays childlike mannerisms.

The small infant proceeded to make use of his new home by creating "subjects" (rock figures) and having a "glorious" feast (actually just bugs). One day, he was found by Eda Clawthorne, who was trying to escape the Emperor's Coven. Finding him adorable and believing he was all alone, she "rescued" him from the creature, but he broke his horn during the escape; causing him to lose some of his memory. Upon returning to Eda's home, she began to care for him like a pet, until she learned that he was capable of speaking.

These events usually end up backfiring on him, and he has to resort to admitting his fault and asking for help to fix his problem. Because of this, his stories tend to serve mostly as the B plot to episodes. At one point, he begins to take his time with Luz very seriously, to the point that he considers himself a secondary teacher to Luz besides Eda. He also slowly becomes more affectionate and humble as time goes on, most likely due to the influence of Luz and her happy demeanor. This comes to a point where he felt threatened by the appearance of Willow Park and Gus Porter, but he soon learns to treat them like friends as well.

Graphic Design Styles: Minimalism, Swiss, Art Deco, and More

graphic design styles

Founded in 1919 in Germany, the movement was centered around the Staatliches Bauhaus art school, which brought together aesthetics and functionality. One possible answer to this question may be to learn the most important trends and the elements that make sites successful. After all, the internet is starting to look very much alike due to measurable consumer preferences. We now know how aesthetic appearance impacts first impressions, buyer trust, and even sales.

Branding design

When people think of designs relating to businesses, they think of marketing and advertising designs. That is because most companies think the success of their marketing efforts depends largely on the designs they use to influence their audience's decisions. Head over to Envato Elements to find vintage-inspired designs and graphic style art to take a trip back in time in your own creative work. One of the most memorable examples of design as a political tool was Shepard Fairey’s “Hope” poster for the 2008 US presidential campaign. In the latter part of the decade, garish, neon-saturated styles came to dominate commercial design and spilled over into music and the arts.

Corporate

Graphic design is a communication skill that conveys information to people through the use of visuals. In today’s world, businesses rely on graphic design as a means of communication to convey information to their target audience. Towards the middle and later part of the decade for 1990s graphic design, minimalism became the order of the day, which felt completely refreshing after the scruffy grunge years. Calvin Klein pioneered minimalist graphic design in his adverts featuring a waif-like Kate Moss posing next to an ultra-simple, watermarked logo design.

Minimalism

Corporate styles primarily utilize simplistic details to get the point across in a professional, formal tone. The elements of corporate style are great when combined with minimalism, a style that is also well known for simplicity, straightforwardness, and legibility. Material Design's success lies in its ability to balance aesthetics and functionality. By incorporating real-world characteristics into the digital realm, users feel a connection and comfort that fosters engagement and encourages exploration. Whether tapping, swiping, or scrolling, interactions with Material Design interfaces feel intuitive and intuitive, making the user experience a joy.

Marketing graphic designers always team up with business owners and most especially, marketing personnel, to design the necessary assets for the company's marketing strategy. Some work individually while some others work as part of an in-house creative team in a company. There are different types of designs that businesses use to communicate with their audience, and visual identity design is one of them. Visual graphic designs are channels that each organization uses to tell its unique story. There is no one way to use graphic design to communicate ideas through visual compositions.

An eCommerce store requires clearer CTAs, a resources page would need to display assets more visibly, and any type of advertisement would need a much clearer message to be compelling. Instead, it utilizes subtle visual cues to boost UX, like in the example below from Wix. It is for this reason exactly why you should keep it in mind for your next project. Moreover, postmodernism also challenged the notion of a singular, authoritative perspective in design. Designers began to work together, drawing inspiration from one another and fostering a sense of community that transcended individual egos.

Examples of Packaging Graphic Designs

Graphic artists and illustrators create original artworks while graphic designers come up with patterns to communicate and find solutions to problems. Product packaging creates an avenue for graphic designs to communicate to the public. Packaging design is a very valuable marketing tool, in the sense that you can capture the attention of your target audience through graphics.

Product design is a very broad process that involves a little contribution from different types of designers. Products are mostly the results of numerous design processes so it needs the hands of designers to come alive. Publications are long-form texts that reach out to large audiences through public distributions. Some examples of publication designs include magazines, newspapers, newsletters, catalogs, and think books. Apart from the basic design skills, they should also have some knowledge of different programming languages such as CSS, C++, JavaScript, HTML, Python, and SQL.

Now that the Corporate Memphis design style is falling out of favor — what comes next? To be successful in this field, you’ll need to experiment to discover what makes your work stand out. There aren’t any elements distracting the viewer from the ultimate message your design conveys.

Packaging is very important because a lot of people tend to ‘judge a book by its cover' which means that they judge the authenticity of a product from an outward look. Most products need some form of packaging to protect them, make them ready for sale, and aid distribution. Product designers must have good communication and expression skills because where the work of one ends is where the other begins.

Informal, light-hearted and humorous designs that appeal not only adults, but also target audience of tender ages. The designs incorporate elements like rugged texture, monochromatic shades of white, black, blue and gray, and simple curves and lines that convey the message without much a fuss. It is more like a fictional slice of the entire concept of illustrative style which does not stick to the generalized concepts.

Some of the most recognisable design traits of the Eighties can be sourced from the inescapable type styles that were developed from the mid-Eighties onwards. Sharply italicized lettering fonts in neon pinks and purples adorned album covers and advertising billboards alike. In 1970s graphic design, we start to see photography becoming more dominant, with illustration taking a more supportive role in magazine and ad design. Photography, as with everything in the Seventies, explored extremes—it was either moody greyscale or disco-bright Technicolor.

From modern, minimalist designs to vintage styles, there is a wide variety of options for those looking to add a unique flair to their graphic design projects. Each style has its characteristics and can be used to create a variety of visual effects. So, delve into the article to learn about different graphic design styles and create amazing visuals that effectively communicate your message. With a bit of creativity and a modern twist, they can be used to create captivating graphic designs that stand the test of time. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll explore the various types of graphic design styles that exist, from modern and popular styles to contemporary and minimalist approaches. You’ll learn the characteristics and elements of each style, as well as how to infuse them with a modern twist to create captivating graphic designs that stand out.

These designers must be in tune with the marketing message a brand wants to send, as well as the target audience they wish to reach. Every aspect of branding design must align with these goals, as well as fit into the larger aesthetic of the company or organization. The typographic graphic design style is one of the most popular graphic design styles used today. It involves using type to create visually appealing designs that communicate a message clearly and concisely.

They also use different combinations of graphic designs, media, and techniques to create mind-blowing artworks. Typeface designs require an extensive understanding of the concept of typography, and typography is the science of lettering. Lettering and typeface designs can be sensitive because making the right type choice can instantly communicate your message to your target audience while a slightly wrong choice can pass the wrong message. Communication skill is a no-brainer for every environmental graphic designer because every aspect of their work involves some inter-relation between people. Plus, they must be able to simplify designs for people to resonate with in terms of public transportation navigations and high-ways indications.

As with Art Deco, poster design in particular became one of the most influential forms of the Swiss/ International design style. The style demanded a clean coherent design space, with a considerable amount of negative space given amongst elements. A perfect example of a well-known practitioner of this style is the Czeck-painter, illustrator and graphic artist Alphonse Mucha. His designs graced posters and advertisements of the era, yet his work has also consistently crossed into fine art with paintings and lavish object designs.

Eloy Be also uses heavy contrast between the background and the text to optimize legibility. Another minimalist-inspired style, Scandinavian design is known from its stripped-down quality that makes every element seem important. As the name suggests, it is two-dimensional and therefore more simplistic than 3D. There is no need for a natural lighting effect or creating the illusion of depth in a flat design, making it a monochromatic style.

The key characteristic features of this style are the bold outlines and flat yet intricately hand-illustrated designs and typefaces. The characters and forms depicted in this design style possess flowing curves which speak to the unique forms found in nature. This design style is often used in advertisements and brands that are geared toward a primarily male audience. This is especially important for homepage designs—the most popular page on your website. What Does It Mean to Rebuild After a House Fire? The New York Times

christmas house decorations

We chose a glass lantern with a brass finish; but any lanterns will do. Choose natural elements such as holly berries and eucalyptus sprigs, instead of candles, to fill the lanterns with scenes of a Christmas forest. Try to vary the lengths of each ribbon, and space them far enough apart so that a passing breeze won't knock them together. Look into Christmases past, present, and future with these crystal ball decorations. You can add these mercury glass balls to a shiny display for even more sparkle and glitz, or incorporate them into a rustic display for an element of elegance.

Use food as decor for a last-minute idea

Match your garland accessories to wall art and decor throughout the space rather than using the classic Christmas colors for an understated yet festive look. Though Christmas has no strict color scheme, red and green tend to get the job done when it comes to spreading holiday cheer. Whether you use these shades throughout the whole home or just outside, your space is bound to be the most festive on the block.

Get creative with your Christmas card display

Arrange any extra ornaments into leftover vases or wicker baskets. This cheap decoration idea means that none of your beautiful ornaments will go unused. We even added a few strands of leftover ribbons to our ornament collection to bring color to the display. Stack the vases on coffee tables and side tables to spread the color scheme across your entire living space. Arrange gifts around the base of your ornaments to incorporate them into their surroundings. For a tasteful, intricate, and slightly minimalist display, fill transparent glass cylinders with painted holiday objects.

Voluminous Garland

Spread Christmas cheer by greeting guests with a bright arrangement of seasonal paperwhites. Paperwhites belong to the daffodil family, and will flower indoors at any time of year. They are incredibly easy to grow and maintain, as they don't even need soil to grow. Just place the paperwhite bulb in enough water to cover the lower portion of the bulb. While growing the paperwhites, keep the bulbs in a warm indoor spot that sees lots of sun. If you water them regularly, they will flower in a month or so.

Spring for a Snow-Kissed Tree

Disguise those unsightly wires from string lights by winding them around a column or post with Christmas greenery or garland. Personalize the garland by attaching spray-painted pinecones and metallic ornaments with fishing line. Finally, set out a pretty container of ornamental cabbage or kale at the base. To add an additional pop of color, a potted Poinsettia also looks great.

This sophisticated wreath made of eucalyptus is a contemporary update. Minimalists will love this chic, Scandinavian-inspired tree made of wooden dowels. These stunning candle holders will add a dramatic touch to your dining table. This decorative leaf saucer was designed in Sweden by Svenskt Tenn and first debuted at the 1939 World Exhibition in New York. “It is a great way to bring about the festive Christmas feeling within your home,” she says.

Modern Ornament Holder

Over the past years, have you learned how to make a Christmas wreath? Why not do it with a difference and suspend yours horizontally like the Scandis do (above)? Over the dining table is best, with droplet baubles hanging beneath. Brighten up your Christmas decorating with the best neon lights. Despite being the heart of the home over the holidays, your kitchen decor scheme can get a bit overlooked when it comes to Christmas. We love this asymmetric look though, with the large houseplant, it's unexpected because of the height but definitely adds interest to the space and a clear focal point.

Each unique ornament will tell a story, and your Christmas tree will act as a great conversation piece during holiday gatherings. In a pinch for a festive, company-worthy way to decorate your doorstep this holiday season? Greet guests in style by arranging a grouping of festive candleholders and lanterns at your entryway for quick and easy holiday style. Arrange large, sturdy candles for a warm glow in mismatched lanterns.

The winning table formula of family silver + a hit of color + inexpensive grocery store flowers is just as effective now as at any other time of year. Stick florist clay adhesive to the bottom of the compote, and press the cone onto it. Attach a row of green plums (or Key limes) by skewering with a wooden pick and inserting into cone in an upward swirl. Skewer a pineapple (spray-painted gold) with a wooden pick, and insert into top of topiary. Try spray-painting the dried hydrangeas white for an elegant touch. Place that on a piece of florist wire that's been trimmed to a length about ½ inch shorter than the stems.

In this guest room, a gorgeous swag of greenery was hung above the bed on the frame posts for an understated, elegant holiday look. If you have a backyard playhouse, don't forget to deck that out for the holiday, too! Since it's where kids go to play, Rachel Barrett leaned into more imaginative decor with rainbow lights and big wreath with a classic red velvet bow. Make every room feel instantly more cozy and festive by lighting all the candles. Go for a mix of heights and trail some ivy along the base to add in some greenery. Should you be painting your dining room or another room in the house in time for the festive season, choose warm colors and complement them with your tableware or furniture.

Instead of hanging stockings along your mantel, consider hanging them directly on your Christmas tree. Transform your coffee table into a Christmas present by crisscrossing strands of ribbon over the top and sides of the table, like you would when wrapping a gift. To avoid over-decoration, choose a neutral ribbon color that is close to the color of the table, and wrap loosely. Add festive centerpieces, like spray painted pine cones, and metallic family heirlooms to add sparkle to the elegant decoration. Small ornaments can easily get lost on a busy tree amid the sparkling lights and merry garland. Using thread or fishing wire, simply thread a cluster of ornaments together and tie to make an eye-catching arrangement. Hang them on your tree sporadically for shiny upgrades – we love adding a bell or two for some jingle.
